For people maintaining their innocence, exhausting the courts does not necessarily mean exhausting every pathway toward freedom. Xonorate helps identify and prepare alternative lawful avenues that may remain when traditional post-conviction options have been exhausted.
Pathways to Freedom does not guarantee release, provide automatic legal representation, or treat parole, clemency, or sentence reduction as exoneration.
When the case closes, what happens next?
Wrongful-conviction cases can reach a point where appeals have been exhausted, post-conviction remedies have failed, procedural barriers prevent additional litigation, or an innocence organization concludes its investigation or representation because no attorney has identified another viable court remedy.
None of that necessarily answers a different question: are there other lawful pathways that could potentially lead to freedom? That's where Pathways to Freedom begins — without competing with the attorneys, courts, or innocence organizations that came before it.
